SOPHIA LELIS, vocalist, was born in New York City’s Manhattan and learned to sing practicing with records.  She was shy and often was chosen to play opposite roles in high school plays to help with her shyness.  Sophia performed in a rock n roll band in high school as well.

With her mother’s permission, Sophia at age 15 to 16 went to sing in John Martinez’s Latin Orchestra where she sang the songs that were in English.  She found that with the drugs and crazy behavior associated with it, the musical scene and life style was not her cup of tea, and she walked away from it.  After her mother passed away in 2003, she saw an article about Woody Woods whom she had met years earlier and she called him to see if he could help her get back into music.  He has shared the spotlight with her and as someone said “when you witness her talent, you will hear the influences of some of the great jazz singers that have come before her in New York City.”  She has a passion and sheer expertise for the perfection of her craft. Over the years, Sophia has graciously performed for many charity events (Purple Wings and The Child Advocacy, among others) and has performed in many hotel venues in Las Vegas, including the Four Seasons, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, and Palace Station.  She performed for the Community College of Southern Nevada with the Woody Woods quartet at the Paris Hotel.

Currently, Sophia, in addition to entertaining at many private and corporate events, will be performing in 2014 on the Forgotten Song Music label as part of the Midnight Muse project.  She is going to be the featured singer on June 14 for the Winchester Cultural Center, accompanied by Woody Woods.
