As a child, ANYA PETERSON was encouraged by her mother who fueled Anya’s passion for art by replacing her Halloween candy with crayons, pencils and paints. “She allowed me to be me, to do what I loved, and to never stop using my imagination. As a result, I have never been afraid to follow my dreams.”
Anya was lucky enough to be raised in California around the ocean and the outdoors where she was taught to respect and appreciate the beauty and power of nature. She focuses on subject matter which includes mostly surreal seascapes, animals, and abstract. Anya generally works with acrylics, but also enjoys painting with watercolors and oils, and drawing with pencils, charcoal, and pastels. Anya appreciates all forms of art; however, aside from drawing and painting, photography is her favorite form of visual art.
Anya lives and creates in Las Vegas and can be found at events and galleries around town. She can be seen at many of the city’s First Fridays where she displays some of her creations, such as her series of masks called “Unmasking the Mind.”
