KEEN NICHOLS, poet, began writing in 2007 after a sudden burst of inspiration awakened his consciousness, allowing him to write a 8 stanza poem entitled, “Your Essence Isn’t Evanescence”. In time, this single poem that explores the vastness of ontological inquiry, became the impetus for his leaving his 12 year career in local government. Keen has over twenty years of public speaking experience and an extensive background in theological studies, counseling, coaching and community outreach. But it is his love of words and fine art that inspires him most.
Keen’s writings focus primarily on the nature of being, beauty and love. Much of his inspiration is drawn from everyday observations of people and nature, as well as, figurative artwork. He is most notably known for his deep soulful and healing delivery of his inspired poetry, many comparing his words to the likes of Rumi and Hafiz.
Using an ancient process known as, “Ekphrasis” in which art serves as prompt from which to create, he is working on a collection of work that will accompany the figurative artwork of contemporary painters and sculptors. Keen is currently the Gallery Director of Exclusive Collections Gallery, located at the prestigious Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas.
