The MIDNIGHT MUSE project found some interesting history about the Vegas Jazz Society that was founded by Monk Montgomery back in the 1970s. It was an honor to work with the group of dedicated individuals: Carolyn Freeman, past-president of the Vegas Jazz Society, Judy Tarte, current president, Frank Leone, president of the Local Musicians Union and all of the wonderful board members that came to the rescue for our special requests of history and old photographs. A special thank you also goes out to Patrick and Cynthia Gaffey for their recorded history journals from the society over the years. Without all of these giving individuals, we would not have been able to offer you an inside view of what it was like to build such an organization that has given jazz a place in the hearts of the Las Vegas jazz fans over the years!
