MIKE HEPNER, keyboardist, (often referred to as “Detroit” Mike Hepner) was taught his first boogie woogie bass line by Bob Seeley at the age of 13. Mike, mostly self-taught, spent time with many big band “jazzers,” at North Texas State University which led to his first recording contract with a country band in Texas. He returned to Detroit where he formed several bands before the New York Express picked him up. Within 3 years he had an Atlantic recording contract.
Then Mike traveled west to the entertainment capital of the world…Las Vegas, and it didn’t take long for guitarist, Guy Amato to scoop up Mike as the keyboardist for his new band New Rhythm Quartet. He also is a Musical Director for several projects in town as well as performing regularly in the studio and live with the host band at Reno’s LV Roc N Sol All-Stars Jam, Rheda K’s Jazz Krew, “Pearl” A Janis Joplin Tribute and a host of other artists.
Over the last 35 years Mike has produced CDs, written commercially in all genres of music, arranged and co-written many songs as well. In 2009, Mike released his solo CD, Blue shores. Mike still loves performing the most and has become one of the most in demand keyboardists in Las Vegas!
