FLOR MENDEZ GARCIA-OSMAN was born in the Dominican Republic, the youngest of six children (her five brothers are also artists).  She graduated from the University of the Caribbean in Santo Domingo with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.  At a young age, she felt a passion for painting, which motivated her to take painting classes at the art school of Guillo Perez with the Cuban painters, Omar Puentes, Ramon Medina, and particularly with her borther, Pedro Pablo Mendez who was Flor’s mentor and influence in the style and development of her works.

Flor works in acrylics and oils expressing her feelings and experience by using simple strokes and a broad spectrum of colors on white canvas.  Flor’s works were exhibited in the Dominican Republic before her first solo exhibit, “Beauty Morena” at the Dominican Casa De La Cultura in New York in 2004.  Her art work has been exhibited at the Caxculthi (Latin Culture House in Las Vegas), the Hispanic Museum of Nevada, and the art shows, “Jazz for Peace” series at Tommy Bahamas, the Cadillac Ranch and the Smith Center, all in Las Vegas.

Flor’s second solo exhibit was at the Dinosaurs & Roses inside the Life Long Dreams Art Studio in Las Vegas. Currently, she is working on a project for exhibition at the Hispanic Museum of Nevada to debut in March, 2014.
